Project Introduction

There is often the case you already know the area and where you would like to move, and often you pass on opportunities that are just in front of you.

Placear solves this by giving you the possibility to look and scan the area where you are, and display all the available properties right in front of your eyes.

In fact it can be considered a powerful tool that helps you see right behind walls and allow you to get the property that you wish for in the exact location that you want. No more passing by the opportunities.

My Role

I had the responsibility to create a mobile application (design) prototype and design brand identity for Placear.

I have been given the already colected data from early surveys and I created the user personas. We brainstormed on ideas, I have created the wireframes and high fidelity prototypes. With my teammate’s help I have made some usability testing on the prototype.

Design Process

Our strategy for the product was approaching a Design Thinking process, empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and learn. Our scope was to reach, as soon as possible, to a prototype that could be tested with real users.

In the first phase we have defined 3 user personas from which ‘Michael Johnson’ below is an example of an ideal user.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

In the early phase of the design process, I have done the first round of wireframing to have a starting point for the app. We tried to get early feedback from user testing by using Adobe XD mobile application to preview the prototype on a mobile phone.

High Fidelity Wireframes

I have received feedback from the first round of users that have tried the low fidelity prototype, being guided by an instructor. It wasn’t great but the users were able to understand the basic principles and that was a good starting point for us.

Later I designed the high fidelity wireframes that were tested once more using the Adobe XD mobile application and with the users guided by an instructor.

We have discovered the application to be entertaining but some visual aspects didn’t feel right yet based on feedback and observing the user.

Visual Identity

In the design process we also included the creation of visual identity.

The logo represents a house that’s placed in a 3D space. This is shown by the depth of field created between rounded rectangle shape and the house shape.

The chosen colors and typography are young but inspire trust to our users.

High Fidelity Prototype

The visual identity was created while conducting user testing on the low-fidelity prototype from above.

After the visual identity was approved and enough data was collected from the user testing, I designed the high fidelity prototype with the proposed changes based on data and visual identity.
